Baltic RAD participated in The Congress of Lithuanian Society of Orthopeadics and Traumatology which took place in Kaunas, on April 25-26 d. the topic of the Congress was „Urgent Help in Orthopaedic and Traumatology. Treatment strategies“. Distinguished traumatologists of Lithuania, Europe and Scandinavian countries held presentations about their researches and gave suggestions of how to contribute of improving the quality of treatment strategies of traumatology.
Baltic RAD’s 3D reconstruction engineer Milda Jokymaityte held a presentation on 3D reconstruction service in Lithuania. Milda reviewed the research of accuracy in 3D anatomical models reconstructed from CT images, and made suggestions on how 3D reconstruction can be applied to Lithuania’s Orthopaedics and Traumatology.
Company’s engineer-technologist Ignas Gudas held a presentation "The research on coherence of femoral body-neck angle and the opening points of bone canal". In cooperation with qualified orthopaedic traumatologist, anthropometric measurements of femur were done to determine the exact spot of where the bone canal opens. There are two main spots – fossa piriformis or trochanteric fossa. The right choice of insertion point is essential for proper fixation of fractured bone and for minimalizing soft tissue damage for the patient.
We believe 3D reconstruction can open new possibilities in Lithuania’s medicine. It’s a modern tool for medical researchers, pre-surgical planning and manufacturing of personalized surgical instruments and individual implants.Back
